Traveler Care for Train Attendants
I designed Traveler Care for Train Attendants for öBB, an Austrian Railway Company. The app enables train attendants to validate tickets on board, service passengers & manage their onboard duties effectively.
I handled end to end design process of the app from requirements gathering, interaction design, pixel perfection, and shipping. I worked closely with the Engineering & Product team through the design sprints.
A walkthrough of my design process
User Research + Pain Points Assessment
Our users were using the ancient brick devices, my team had the challenge of winning their trust to effortlessly switch their workforce to iOS devices.
To clearly understand who my team was designing for, we started by defining user personas.
Assessed and observed our users' usage patterns by running through real life scenarios in their work day.
Captured pain points based on day in the life activities and together with the users, I defined the priority for the pain points ( as shown in the screenshot )
Process flow analysis
As I assessed the use cases for the Train app suite, I had extensive conversations about bundling & un-bundling use cases into a suite of apps. I facilitated these conversations through showcasing process flows with bundled & un-bundled user flow options. I also built demo prototypes to address concerns about multi-tasking in iOS.
UI Iterations
An example of UI explorations for the landing page of Traveler Care. In this particular UI, I was challenged with questioning if a custom design route for the landing page would be the best solution.
Design Iterations for the Train capacity page (Landing page)
Design iterations for the Ticket Validation Page.
User Feedback & Prototyping
Throughout the design process I set up regular user feedback sessions. Since, my users were located in Austria, I sent them prototypes of use case scenarios to gather feedback and iterated further on designs. Below is a video demo of the Traveler Care app.
